TOKYO — There has been a lot of talk about the validity of records this year in both Japan and the U.S.
In MLB, Aaron Judge blasted 62 homers, surpassing Roger Maris’ American League mark of 61, which was achieved in 1961, with many fans and analysts saying that this should be the “real” record because the 73 home runs hit by Barry Bonds in 2001 were done when he was using steroids, or PED’s — as were the 70 home runs that Mark McGwire hit in 1998 (and the 66 Sammy Sosa hit the same year).
Roger Maris Jr. is one who believes the Judge mark of 62 is the ‘real record.’
