Bob's Bullets - Remembering Rick Wolff, a man who was pivotal to my career success
TOKYO — A good man and an old friend died recently. His name was Rick Wolff, he was a book publisher and hosted a Sunday morning talk show, The Sports Edge, for years on WFAN radio in New York City. Rick is the man who jump started my career.
I first encountered Rick in 1987. I had written a piece in Smithsonian Magazine about high school baseball in Japan, which he had read and liked so much he wrote me a letter and asked me if I would like to turn write a book about baseball in Japan for MacMillan.
Two years later, “You Gotta Have Wa” was published and everything changed.
