He does not yet have the record of accomplishments that three-time MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto or former C.L. strikeout champion Shoto Imanaga have had in NPB. He has yet to win a Sawamura Award, for example, or even demonstrate he can handle a full season of work, given the issues of his physical health and after effects of overwork in high school. Yet, he, amongst all, potentially stands to be the best of the best ever to come out of Japan.
