TOKYO — The season Shohei Ohtani is having is off the charts. As of this writing he has 54 homers, 57 stolen bases — a feat that has never before been accomplished in the history of Major League Baseball. This is the season Ohani should have had in 2021 with the Los Angeles Angels, before fatigue did him in. As I write this, he is in the running to win the National League Triple Crown. Yet his heroics have been overshadowed in the U.S. media by the performance of Yankee favorite Aaron Judge, who has more home runs and RBI’s — 144 to Ohtani’s 130 and a higher batting average.
