TOKYO — It has long been believed that baseball was introduced to Japan in 1872 by visiting American professor Horace Wilson at Kaisei Gakko, a precursor of Tokyo University, and the first game played a year later organized by Albert Bates an American teacher at Kaitaku University, also in Tokyo.
